‘We Have Started 24-hour Patrol’: Amotekun Storms Boarding Schools In Ondo As Bandit Attacks Surge

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, has launched intensified patrols across boarding schools in the state amid rising concerns over bandit attacks nationwide.ADS 5

Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, announced the development on Tuesday in Akure while parading 16 suspects arrested for various crimes. He said the agency had deployed full-time surveillance teams to schools with boarding facilities, particularly those located in border communities and remote areas.

“In the past week, we have visited many schools and mounted surveillance on all boarding facilities, especially in border towns,” Adeleye said. “We have also strengthened our 24-hour Ember Month patrol at border points to enhance protection.”

The ongoing border operation, code-named Operation Le Won Jade and launched on November 6, has helped push out miscreants, bandits, and kidnappers hiding in the forests, according to the commander.

Adeleye added that routine round-the-clock patrols within major towns are still active and have recorded significant successes. Thirty-four suspects were arrested in the past week, with 16 presented to the media.

He assured residents that security agencies across Ondo State remain committed to safeguarding lives and property.‏

The heightened patrols come as several northern states — including Bauchi, Plateau, Taraba, Yobe, Katsina, and Kebbi — have recently shut down schools or closed boarding facilities following a surge in terrorist and bandit attacks.Headline news
