Bandits have attacked Biresawa village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting several residents, including women and girls.
The armed men reportedly struck two neighbouring communities, Sundu and Biresawa, both located along the Katsina–Kano border, an area increasingly targeted by criminal groups despite a recent peace pact involving Ingawa, Kankia and Kusada LGAs in Katsina State.
Security analyst Bakatsine confirmed the development in a post on X on Tuesday, warning that violent raids were now shifting toward border communities.

He wrote: “Yesterday night, armed bandits raided the Sundu and Biresawa villages of Tsanyawa LGA in Kano State, abducting several women and girls. The communities lie along the Katsina–Kano border, a corridor frequently exploited by armed groups.”
A resident who spoke to Daily Trust said the attackers invaded the villages between 11 pm and midnight on Monday.
“They came as usual, and from our findings so far, two males and six females were taken away by the bandits,” he said. “Up till now, there is no news on their whereabouts.”

Another resident, Kabiru Usman, whose family members were among those taken, said the bandits arrived on foot through Tsundu village.
“They came on foot, armed with guns. They kidnapped my wife, Umma; my 17-year-old daughter, Fati; my brother’s wife and two other women,” he said.
“We tried to stop them, but our weapons were no match for them as they were carrying guns.”
Usman added that villagers had alerted security agencies after receiving reports that the attackers were heading in their direction.

“Before the attack occurred, we got a report that they were heading towards us, and we notified the security agencies, including the police and military, ahead of time,” he explained.
It was gathered that rising insecurity has forced many residents to flee their homes. Several communities have now been deserted, with displaced people taking refuge in Faruruwa town or relocating to urban areas.

As of the time this report was filed, Kano Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, had not responded to calls.
This latest attack adds to escalating concerns. A few weeks ago, bandits stormed Yan Kwada village in the Faruruwa community of Shanono LGA, abducting five women, including nursing mothers. That incident occurred barely a week after a joint military operation in the area killed 19 bandits.
