At least four people have been killed after terrorists attacked a Tiv settlement in Idofin, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State in the early hours of Monday, December 1, 2025.
According to SaharaReporters, the assailants struck the quiet community around midnight, firing sporadically and forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety. The attack, described as sudden and coordinated, left many homes abandoned as panic spread through the area.
A community source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victims’ bodies were recovered shortly after the attackers withdrew. The corpses have since been taken to the General Hospital in Isanlu.
The attack follows another incident along the Oshokoshoko–Obajana highway, a stretch of road in Kogi State that has recently become increasingly dangerous. Terrorists reportedly carried out a brazen assault, leaving travellers stranded for hours as gunmen appeared to take control of the route.
A video obtained by SaharaReporters showed dozens of commuters trapped, with vehicles lined up for long stretches as they waited for rescue amid ongoing gunfire between security forces and attackers.
In the footage, a distressed traveller narrated the ordeal: “Everybody, see what is happening here. This is Oshoko Shoko in Kogi State between Kabba and Obajana. We have been stuck here for more than three hours. Kidnappers are taking over the road. Everywhere is on fire, and soldiers and bandits are exchanging gunfire. We don’t know what to do. Please, Nigeria, come and save us.”
The Oshokoshoko–Obajana corridor has witnessed repeated ambushes in recent days, prompting fears among residents and regular travellers. Locals say the route has become a hotspot for kidnappings and armed attacks, making travel increasingly perilous.
