Dangote Alleges NMDPRA Boss Spent $5 Million on Kids’ Swiss Education
Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has stirred controversy again with new claims about Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). Dangote alleges that Ahmed spent over $5 million sending his four children to elite schools in Switzerland and millions more on university education abroad.

According to Dangote, the breakdown of the alleged schooling expenses is staggering:
Faisal Farouk – Montreux School
Farouk Jr. – Aiglon College
Ashraf Farouk – Institut Le Rosey
Farhana Farouk – La Garenne International School
He claims these fees covered tuition, upkeep, air travel, and other expenses for roughly six years per child, totaling over $5 million. University education for the four, including 2025’s $210,000 for Faisal’s Harvard MBA, adds another $2 million.

Dangote, speaking at a press briefing at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Lagos, called for a full investigation. He urged that Ahmed appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal to explain the alleged funding, warning that such spending could amount to economic sabotage.
The businessman’s allegations come amid his ongoing battle to protect his refinery from what he describes as entrenched oil cartels attempting to undermine the operation. Dangote has been publicly outspoken throughout 2025, making it clear he will not back down in his fight to safeguard his investments.
