NAHCO VEHICLE COLLIDES WITH AIR PEACE AIRCRAFT AT LAGOS AIRPORT, DISRUPTING FLIGHT OPERATIONS

Air Peace has confirmed that one of its Airbus A320 aircraft sustained significant damage after a baggage conveyor belt vehicle operated by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) collided with one of the aircraft’s engines at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 in Lagos.

The airline said the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, shortly after the aircraft completed Flight P47427 from Kano and passengers had safely disembarked.

According to Air Peace, the collision caused extensive damage to the engine, leaving the aircraft unfit for service and disrupting its flight operations.

The airline explained that the affected aircraft had been scheduled to operate several flights over the coming days, meaning the incident would likely result in delays and possible cancellations across parts of its network.

Air Peace stated that it is working closely with NAHCO and the relevant aviation authorities to investigate the cause of the incident and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The airline reaffirmed that the safety of its passengers, crew and equipment remains its highest priority.

It also apologised to customers affected by the disruption, assuring them that its operations and customer service teams are making alternative travel arrangements and providing the necessary assistance to minimise inconvenience.

As of the time of reporting, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
