EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS VANISH FROM U.S. JUSTICE DEPARTMENT WEBSITES, INCLUDING PHOTO WITH TRUMP, ASSOCIATES.

Less than a day after being made public, at least 16 documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein mysteriously disappeared from the Justice Department’s website, raising fresh questions about what is being withheld. Epstein, the financier and convicted sex offender, died in a New York prison cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Some of the missing files reportedly contained photographs that could provide insight into Epstein’s ties with well-known figures, according to the Associated Press. Among the images were artworks showing nude women and personal photos arranged on furniture and in drawers. One photo reportedly included Donald Trump, Melania Trump, Epstein, and Ghislaine Maxwell.

The Justice Department has not explained the removal. A statement on X said the materials are being reviewed and redacted carefully “in an abundance of caution as we receive additional information.” The sudden disappearance has sparked speculation about what content was pulled and why the public was not notified. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee specifically highlighted the Trump photograph, questioning what else might be hidden from view.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns over the department’s handling of Epstein records. Although tens of thousands of documents have been released over the years, critical materials such as FBI interviews with survivors and internal memos about prosecutorial decisions remain absent. These files could clarify why Epstein avoided serious federal charges in 2008, pleading instead to a state-level offense.

The documents that have been released mostly feature images of Epstein’s residences in New York and the Virgin Islands, as well as photos of celebrities and politicians. Grand jury testimony from several young women, including one just 14 years old, recounts being paid to perform sexual acts. One victim described being instructed to lie about her age.

Alexander Acosta, the U.S. attorney who handled the 2008 case, later admitted concerns that a jury might not believe the victims, reflecting attitudes toward survivors that have since been criticized as dismissive.

For survivors’ attorneys, the release of documents is bittersweet. Jennifer Freeman, representing Epstein accuser Maria Farmer, called the revelations both “validating and heartbreaking,” pointing to the government’s apparent inaction despite clear warning signs.

Even with a congressional order to release all records, the Justice Department continues to publish documents gradually, citing the need to protect victims’ identities. There is no clear timetable for the release of the remaining files, leaving questions about Epstein’s crimes and the government’s investigation unresolved.
