SANWO-OLU CANCELS GREATER LAGOS FIESTA, URGES RESIDENTS TO PRAY

The Lagos State Government has officially called off the 2025 edition of the Greater Lagos Fiesta, which was slated to take place on Tuesday, December 31, 2025.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, who said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the decision. In place of the annual Greater Lagos Fiesta and Countdown to 2026, residents have been encouraged to dedicate the period to personal prayers for the nation, Lagos State, and its people.

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians to pray for sustained peace, effective leadership, productivity, prosperity, and overall wellbeing across the state. He expressed optimism about the year ahead, describing 2026 as a promising year for both Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.

The governor further appealed to residents to continue fostering unity, peace, and harmonious coexistence.

Speaking on behalf of his family, Sanwo-Olu extended New Year goodwill to all residents, assuring them that his administration remains committed to improving governance and delivering greater benefits to the people in the coming year.

He reaffirmed that the state government is determined to intensify its efforts in 2026 to ensure improved outcomes and a better quality of life for Lagosians.
