At least four people were killed and over 45 others injured when suspected armed herders attacked Akunza-Ashigye community near Assakio in Lafia East, Nasarawa State.
Eyewitness Jonathan Adamu linked the attack to a longstanding conflict between Fulani herders and the community, including a reprisal following the killing of a Fulani herder last Sunday. The herder was reportedly attacked by locals after returning from a cattle market, which may have prompted the retaliatory assault.
Police confirmed three deaths so far, with two at the scene and one at the hospital. Authorities have deployed additional security personnel to the area, and investigations are ongoing.
