Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has attributed his two goals in Nigeria’s 3–1 victory over Uganda at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to proper preparation and strong teamwork.
The Club Brugge midfielder was the standout performer in the Group C match, scoring both goals in the second half to secure Nigeria’s flawless run in the group stage. His impressive performance earned him the Man of the Match award at the Fez Stadium.

Onyedika commended Samuel Chukwueze for his contribution to the goals, explaining that their understanding on the pitch was a result of consistent training drills.
“We worked on those movements a lot in training,” Onyedika said, highlighting the importance of anticipation and swift decision-making during matches.
He noted that his familiarity with Chukwueze’s style of play, particularly his ability to beat defenders and deliver accurate cut-backs, helped him position himself well to convert the chances.

Reflecting on winning the Man of the Match award, Onyedika described it as an emotional moment and a reward for years of dedication and hard work.
Nigeria finished top of Group C with nine points from three matches, sealing qualification for the knockout stage.
