Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Servic at the Apapa Area Command, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have intercepted 30 slabs of cocaine aboard the MV Aruna, a vessel registered in the Marshall Islands.
The interception occurred on Friday at the Greenview Terminal within Apapa Port, Lagos, underscoring sustained efforts by security agencies to block the entry of hard drugs through the nation’s busiest seaport.

In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Apapa Port Command, Isah Sulaiman, disclosed that the cocaine was expertly hidden on the ship, pointing to the increasingly sophisticated tactics adopted by drug traffickers.
The Apapa Area Controller, Emmanuel Oshoba, commended the officers involved for their alertness during the New Year period, noting that the successful operation reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling illegal trade in accordance with laid-down procedures.

The seized drugs have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution of those linked to the shipment.
The interception is the third major drug seizure recorded in recent weeks by the joint enforcement team of the Nigeria Customs Service and the NDLEA.
