ADELEKE MOURNS EX-DEPUTY IG OF POLICE

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed profound grief over the death of Alhaji Gazali Lawal, the Asiwaju of Ikirunland and former Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, stated on the state’s X handle on Tuesday that Adeleke described the loss as “painful and devastating,” extending his condolences to the people of Ikirunland, Alhaji Lawal’s family, and all those touched by his life and service.

Governor Adeleke highlighted the late law enforcement officer’s dedication to public service, noting that Alhaji Lawal devoted much of his career to the Nigerian Police, making significant contributions to the safety and security of citizens.

“It is with a heavy heart that I extend my condolences to the people of Ikirunland on the passing of one of their distinguished sons, Alhaji Gazali Dewale Lawal,” Adeleke said. “During his lifetime, he demonstrated remarkable commitment to progress, leveraging his influence and resources for the advancement of his hometown.”

The governor added that Alhaji Lawal’s death represents a loss not only to Ikirunland but to Osun State and the nation at large, given his extensive experience and insights on security and governance.

“His passing leaves a considerable void in the town he helped develop, and his contributions to the social and economic growth of our state will be remembered for generations,” Adeleke remarked.

The governor prayed for the eternal rest of Alhaji Lawal’s soul and encouraged his family and loved ones to draw strength from the memories of his remarkable life and enduring legacy.
