A deadly road accident occurred on Wednesday in Lagos when an empty petrol tanker collided with a commercial motorcycle, killing both the rider and his passenger at Pokia Junction, inward Araga, along the Epe–Ijebu Road in Epe.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrested the tanker driver and handed him over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

Confirming the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said preliminary security reports indicated that the motorcyclist was carrying a male passenger while riding against traffic on a prohibited one-way route, violating traffic regulations.
He explained that the speeding tanker struck the motorcycle, resulting in the fatalities.
LASTMA officials quickly responded to the scene, secured the area to prevent additional accidents, and ensured the smooth flow of traffic along the affected road.

The bodies of the deceased rider and passenger, along with the arrested tanker driver, were handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police attached to the Noforija Police Division for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
