The Kano State Police Command has intercepted suspected explosives and illicit drugs in two separate operations across metropolitan areas of the state.
According to CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command’s spokesperson, police officers acting on orders from the Commissioner of Police conducted a search at a residence in Tudun Bojuwa Quarters, Fagge LGA, where two large sacks containing incriminating materials were found.

Experts from the command’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal and Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit identified six rolls of detonating cords in one sack, while the other contained 20 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa and 220 sachets of suspected Exol tablets. Investigation is ongoing.

In a separate operation, officers from the Anti-Thuggery Unit intercepted a tricycle rider at Sani Mainagge Quarters, Gwale LGA, carrying three bags containing suspected heavy materials. EOD-CBRN experts discovered 3,700 electric detonators.
The rider, identified as Ibrahim Garba, 49, aka ‘Manyan Baki’, from Zamfara, confessed to transporting the materials from Nasarawa State. The police have launched an intensive investigation into the matter.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori commended the officers involved and urged the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and avoid handling any suspicious items.
