General Shaibu reiterated that the Nigerian Army remains committed to its constitutional duty of supporting civil authorities in maintaining peace and security. He highlighted Taraba State’s strategic significance due to its terrain and security dynamics, stressing that the state plays a key role in the nation’s overall security architecture.

The Army Chief praised Governor Kefas for his decisive leadership and effective coordination with security agencies. He specifically commended the state government’s contributions, including land donations and provision of operational equipment, describing them as critical force multipliers that have strengthened the reach, tempo, and impact of military operations in the region.

Emphasizing the importance of a united front, General Shaibu called for continued civil-military collaboration. He requested support for stable electricity supply to the 20 Model Battalion, Sarti, and 23 Battalion, noting that reliable power would boost operational efficiency, troop welfare, and combat readiness.

The COAS also urged intensified public awareness campaigns across Taraba State, encouraging citizens to provide timely and credible intelligence, stressing that community cooperation is essential in defeating terrorists and criminal elements.

Governor Kefas, in his response, described the visit as a demonstration of Taraba State’s unwavering solidarity with the Nigerian Army. He congratulated Lieutenant General Shaibu on his appointment, praised the professionalism, resilience, and sacrifices of army personnel, and highlighted the noticeable improvements in the state’s security landscape due to their presence.

He further commended the strong inter-agency collaboration among security bodies in the state and identified areas needing reinforced military presence. Governor Kefas reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army, including providing accommodation for deployed troops, as both parties pledged to maintain a united, unbreakable front against insecurity in Taraba State.
