Late Wednesday night, Niamey International Airport in Niger Republic was reportedly shaken by gunfire and loud explosions from an as-yet unidentified source.
Local sources told Zagazola Makama that the airport vicinity experienced intense violence, with repeated detonations and sustained gunfire heard in the area.
According to witnesses, the situation has since calmed, but the identities of those responsible for the attack remain unknown.
“No official casualty figures have been released as of the time of filing this report,” one source confirmed.
Authorities in Niger have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the incident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances behind the attack.
Videos circulating online show flashes of explosions lighting up the night sky and vehicles set ablaze near the airport. Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the violence or provided casualty updates.
