PDP FACTION LOYAL TO WIKE SET TO TAKE OVER NATIONAL SECRETARIAT ON MONDAY.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the factional National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Nyesom Wike group, has declared that the PDP is now united under one leadership following a recent Federal High Court judgment.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday after a meeting of political party leaders with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, Anyanwu insisted there is “no more division” or faction in the PDP.

He cited a judgment from the Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, which he said nullified the November 15–16, 2025 convention and affirmed the legitimacy of the National Working Committee led by National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed.

Anyanwu stated:

“It’s a matter of fact, because with our party, we have no problem. We have no faction. We have just one PDP in Nigeria under the leadership of my chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed.”

He explained that the Ibadan court ruling overrode previous orders that led to the sealing of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja by security operatives.

“The so-called convention of November 15-16, 2025, is a nullity, and no other person should parade himself or herself as PDP chairman. No other person has that full powers to speak for the party, to work, administer for the party except the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed.”

Anyanwu revealed that a separate court application by the opposing faction to unseal the secretariat was dismissed for lack of locus standi.

He then declared:

“So by Monday, we’re taking over the office. The party members are already happy because those who were afraid they won’t be able to contest the next election now have nothing to worry about. The matter is settled.”

A video circulating on social media shows Anyanwu making the declaration outside the INEC headquarters:

“By next Monday, we will take over the PDP headquarters.”

The statement signals the Wike-aligned faction’s intention to physically reclaim control of the national secretariat starting Monday, February 9, 2026, following the court validation of their leadership.

The PDP has been embroiled in a prolonged leadership crisis since 2025, marked by rival national chairmen, sealed premises, court battles, and factional defections. The latest development could intensify internal power struggles ahead of the 2027 general elections.
