EDO APC, ODIGIE-OYEGUN TRADE WORDS OVER ‘INDEBTEDNESS’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has called on former national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, to settle debts reportedly owed to the party.

According to a statement signed by Edo APC Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, the debts allegedly include loans and unpaid membership dues accumulated during Odigie-Oyegun’s tenure as the party’s national chairman. The total amount in question is said to exceed N150 million.

“Our party, as a law-abiding and people-centred organization, has formally requested Chief Odigie-Oyegun, now National Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to clear these obligations,” the statement read.

The Edo APC chairman explained that repeated demands for repayment had gone unanswered. The debts reportedly cover both loans extended to Odigie-Oyegun during his leadership of APC and membership contributions that were allegedly not remitted during his time in the party.

“This public demand is necessary because of his continued refusal to honor commitments to the APC, the platform that propelled his political career,” the statement added.

Reacting to the allegations, Odigie-Oyegun dismissed the claims as unfounded, describing them as a sign of panic within the ruling party. He suggested that the accusations are motivated by APC’s growing concern over the ADC emerging as a significant political force.
