Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted a prominent businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Rabo Gesha, during a night attack on Gubuchi community in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday night when the armed men invaded the community and opened fire, creating panic among residents before taking Gesha away.
A security source, Bakatsine, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, said the attackers arrived in the community late at night and fired several shots indiscriminately.
According to the source, Gesha, who is well known in the community for his business activities and philanthropic efforts, was among those targeted by the attackers.
The incident has heightened anxiety among residents, particularly over the growing cases of night-time attacks and abductions in rural communities across Kaduna State.
Residents have expressed concern about their safety and appealed for urgent intervention to secure the release of the businessman.
The source also called for the safe return of Gesha, saying his family and community members were deeply worried about his whereabouts.
He condemned the continued attacks on vulnerable communities and questioned how long residents would be forced to live under the threat of abduction and violence.
