Terrorists have attacked multiple communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, killing at least 26 people and destroying property, including a police station.
The first incident occurred on Friday in Feyi community, where gunmen on motorcycles stormed the village, firing sporadically and leaving villagers scrambling for safety. Six people were reportedly killed in that attack.

The assailants then moved to Tunga-Makeri and Nkpaso villages in Konkoso Ward early Saturday, where they killed 20 more residents and set the police station in Pissa on fire. A military helicopter was later seen heading toward the affected communities, but no casualties were recorded among the attackers.
Borgu communities have faced repeated attacks in recent months, with numerous lives and properties lost.

The Niger State Police confirmed the attacks, stating: “On 14/2/2026 at about 6am, a report was received indicating that around 3am, suspected bandits invaded Tunga-Makeri village via Shafachi district in Borgu LGA. During the attack, six people were killed, some houses were burned, and an undetermined number of people were abducted. The assailants reportedly moved on to Konkoso village, while other details remain sketchy. Joint security teams have been deployed to assess the situation and rescue victims.”
