Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed his readiness to collaborate with all members of the State House of Assembly, including the newly elected representatives from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking through a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, by his Chief Press Secretary Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubara congratulated the APC winners of Saturday’s bye-elections: Napoleon Ukalikpe (Ahoada East Constituency II) and Bulabari Loolo Henrietta (Khana Constituency II).

He described their victories as well-deserved, reflecting the confidence and trust their constituents placed in them.
“It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes. I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the progress of our state,” the governor said.

Fubara also commended the people of Ahoada East and Khana for conducting themselves peacefully before, during, and after the February 21 polls, describing the process as a demonstration of democratic maturity in the state.
The bye-elections filled vacancies created by the resignation of the former representative of Ahoada East Constituency II and the death of the former lawmaker for Khana Constituency II, Dinebari Loolo, in September 2023.

Late Loolo’s widow, Bulabari Loolo, emerged as the APC candidate and won the Khana seat.
The statement comes days after the Rivers State House of Assembly suspended impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara on February 19, following a peace intervention by President Bola Tinubu that helped de-escalate the prolonged political crisis involving the governor and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.
Fubara’s declaration signals a willingness to foster cooperation across party lines for the overall development of Rivers State.
