EID-EL-FITR: SULTAN FELICITATES MUSLIMS, URGES WORLD LEADERS TO DE-ESCALATE IRAN–US/ISRAEL CONFLICT

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the successful completion of the 1447 AH Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

In a statement issued by the Secretary-General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, the Sultan described the occasion as a time for reflection, prayer, and renewed commitment to living a righteous life.

He prayed that Allah accepts the fasting, prayers, and good deeds observed during Ramadan, while also forgiving the shortcomings of the faithful.

The Sultan urged Muslims not to abandon the spiritual discipline they embraced during the holy month, reminding them that devotion to God should continue beyond Ramadan.

Quoting from the Qur’an, he encouraged believers to remain steadfast in worship and to maintain a strong sense of God-consciousness at all times.

He also reminded Muslims about the importance of observing the six voluntary fasts in Shawwal, known as Sittah-Shawwal, which follow the Ramadan fast.

Speaking on national issues, the Sultan called on Muslims to intensify prayers for peace, unity, and stability in Nigeria, especially as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.

He urged leaders and stakeholders to work towards credible, free, and fair elections, stressing that national stability is essential for good governance.

On global developments, the Sultan appealed to world leaders to de-escalate rising tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, warning that prolonged conflict could have serious consequences for global peace and economic stability.

He noted that war brings destruction and can negatively affect human development and food security, particularly in vulnerable countries like Nigeria.

The Sultan concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, praying for continued blessings and divine grace.
