The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed a letter circulating online and attributed to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, describing the document as fake.
In a statement released on Thursday by El-Rufai’s son, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, on behalf of the family, the document titled “Urgent Message” and dated July 14, 2026, was said not to have originated from the former governor.
The family stated that the letter, which was reportedly addressed to the ADC National Chairman and National Secretary, was fraudulent and should be ignored by members of the public.
According to the statement, neither the content nor the handwriting on the document was connected to El-Rufai, adding that the publication was an attempt by individuals seeking to create confusion and division within political circles.
The family described the alleged document as a form of political misinformation and urged the public to reject what it called a fabricated attempt to damage the reputation of the former governor.
The disputed letter had reportedly raised concerns over the nomination of Isah Ashiru as the ADC governorship candidate in Kaduna State.
The document alleged that Ashiru’s emergence as the party’s candidate had caused internal disagreements because he allegedly failed to complete the ADC’s online membership registration before the April 30, 2026 deadline.
It also called on the party’s national and state leadership to review the matter and address the concerns surrounding the nomination.
However, El-Rufai’s family maintained that the claims contained in the letter were false and reiterated that the document did not come from the former governor.
They urged Nigerians and party members to disregard the letter and avoid spreading unverified information.
