The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Sanusi Dankaka at the Kuje Correctional Centre over allegations that he threatened to release nude videos and photographs purportedly involving Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Justice Salim Ibrahim issued the order on Monday after the Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned Dankaka on a two-count charge relating to alleged cybercrime.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.

According to the prosecution, Dankaka allegedly claimed to possess nude videos and photographs involving the Kano governor and threatened to make them public. The DSS also alleged that the threat was posted on a Facebook account bearing the name Sanusi Dankaka Yahaya.
The agency further claimed that other individuals connected to the alleged offence remained at large in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The prosecution maintained that the alleged conduct was intended to cause annoyance, inconvenience, insult and injury to the governor.

The DSS said the alleged offences contravened provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended.
During Monday’s court proceedings, DSS counsel Yusuf Afegbua informed the judge that the prosecution was prepared to proceed with the case. Defence counsel Kauna Penzin also indicated her readiness for trial.

Following the defendant’s plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and asked the court to remand him in custody pending further proceedings. The defence did not oppose the application.
Justice Ibrahim subsequently ordered Dankaka’s remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until December 7, 2026, for trial.
The allegations against the defendant have not been proven in court.
