Panic ensued on Tuesday when a truck carrying sand crashed into the main gate of the Gombe State Government House, causing extensive damage.
The accident occurred around 12:55 p.m. and involved a gate that is part of ongoing renovation works at the Government House under Governor Muhammadu Yahaya. The gate had not yet been officially inaugurated.

Eyewitnesses said the truck lost control before striking the multi-million-naira structure.
“I was standing across the road when I saw the truck approaching at speed. Suddenly, the driver seemed to lose control, and the vehicle veered off and hit the gate,” said trader Musa Abdullahi.

Commercial motorcyclist Ibrahim Sadiq added that the incident could have been worse if pedestrians had been nearby. “It happened very fast. People started running when they saw the truck coming. Thankfully, no one was injured,” he said.
A security aide, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the impact bent parts of the newly installed gate.

The truck is reportedly owned by Tricata Nigeria Ltd., though its registration number was not immediately available.
Confirming the crash, Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, said no lives were lost. “The driver sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment,” he added.

The Government House is undergoing extensive renovation as part of the administration’s legacy infrastructure projects across the state.
