PCRC HAILS JIMOH’S APPOINTMENT AS AIG ZONE 2

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Lagos and Ogun states has welcomed the appointment of Moshood Jimoh as the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, describing him as highly qualified and capable of leading the region’s policing efforts.

The committee, in a statement on Wednesday by Chairman Uthman Jagunmo, said Jimoh’s proven track record, professionalism, and expertise in crime prevention during his tenure as Lagos State Commissioner make him well-suited for the role.

The PCRC condemned calls for Jimoh’s replacement, calling such demands inappropriate and harmful to the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force. It emphasized that postings and deployments are administrative matters that should remain free from political or external interference.

“AIG Moshood Jimoh represents a round peg in a round hole—an officer whose competence perfectly matches the demands of policing in Zone 2,” the statement noted. The committee urged all stakeholders to support Jimoh in maintaining peace and security across Lagos and Ogun states.

Jimoh’s redeployment to Zone 2 follows his recent promotion to Assistant Inspector General by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu. According to the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen leadership, improve operations, and enhance service delivery nationwide.
