FANI-KAYODE: OPPOSITION USING FAKE NEWS TO CAUSE DISUNITY IN APC

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode, has accused opposition groups of using misinformation to destabilise the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, he alleged that false narratives are being deliberately spread to create panic within government circles, fuel internal divisions, and weaken confidence in the party’s chances at the polls.

Fani-Kayode pointed to claims suggesting that the Governor of Nasarawa State is working for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing such reports as baseless and part of a wider disinformation campaign.

“It is clear that the strategy of the opposition is to spread fake news, knock our heads together, create dissension in our ranks and plant doubts in our minds about our ability to win,” he said.

He warned that the political atmosphere is already heating up and urged APC members and supporters of President Bola Tinubu to remain united and alert. According to him, strong internal cohesion will be crucial as the party prepares for what he described as a major political contest in 2027.

Fani-Kayode also called for greater involvement of young party members, encouraging the mobilisation of “young, bright and courageous” individuals to strengthen the party’s base.

Expressing confidence in the APC’s prospects, he maintained that despite what he described as coordinated efforts to undermine the government, the party would overcome the challenges. He added that unity, preparation, and resilience would be key to securing victory, insisting that Nigeria would continue on a path of progress under the current administration.
