WIKE SAYS PDP CRISIS OVER, DECLARES DOORS OPEN FOR RETURNEES

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party has largely eased, stressing that the party is now focused on rebuilding and welcoming back former members.

Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Wike described politics as a game rather than a battle to destroy opponents. He urged aggrieved members to drop their differences and work together in the interest of the party.

According to him, the party has moved past the tensions that followed its recent national convention and is now opening its doors to those willing to return.

“As far as I’m concerned, the convention has come and gone. People are coming back. Yes, we had issues, but the crisis is over. There’s no reason to shut our doors,” he said.

Wike noted that several former members have already shown interest in rejoining, adding that the political atmosphere is becoming more accommodating for those ready to contribute.

He also criticised the “do-or-die” approach often seen in Nigerian politics, warning that such a mindset only deepens divisions and makes reconciliation difficult.

“Politics is not a fight to finish. It’s like football. If you treat it like war, then peace becomes hard. We’ve had disagreements, but if we’re sincere, we can still work together and move forward,” he added.

The former Rivers State governor further advised aspirants to stay active and visible, saying political relevance comes from consistent engagement, not just holding titles.

He maintained that the party still has a lot of work ahead but emphasised that unity and commitment would be key to strengthening its position ahead of future elections.
