At least 11 people have been killed and 52 houses destroyed following a fresh outbreak of communal violence in Akyawa and Udege Kasa communities in Nasarawa State.
The attack, which happened on Friday, was reportedly carried out by suspected hoodlums in what authorities believe to be a reprisal over the earlier killing of two individuals.
Reports indicate that about 50 houses were burnt in Akyawa, while two others were destroyed in Udege Kasa, leaving many residents displaced and properties in ruins.

This latest violence comes just a week after another clash in Aso Pada involving a vigilante group and suspected Fulani herdsmen, which left at least five people dead and several homes and vehicles destroyed.
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson said 11 lives were lost during the attack and dozens of houses razed across the affected communities.
The Commissioner of Police in the state visited the scene to assess the damage and sympathise with victims, assuring residents that those responsible would be brought to justice.

He also ordered a full-scale manhunt for the attackers and directed security operatives to intensify efforts to track down and arrest those involved.
To prevent further violence, additional police personnel have been deployed to the area, working alongside the military and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to restore calm.
Authorities also held a meeting with community stakeholders, urging residents to remain peaceful and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information.
Police say the situation is now under control, with measures in place to prevent a repeat of the violence.
