“OLD HYENAS IN GARB OF NEW TIGERS” SHEHU SANI DISMISSES DAVID MARK’S ADC PROTEST.

Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has criticised the recent protest led by former Senate President David Mark under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as insincere and politically motivated.

Sani dismissed the protest as a gathering of “old hyenas in the garb of new tigers,” arguing that many of those involved lack the credibility to speak for ordinary Nigerians.

According to him, several figures now presenting themselves as opposition voices had previously held positions of power but failed to deliver meaningful progress while in office.

“They have been in power and achieved nothing,” he said, adding that such individuals are now repositioning themselves as agents of change despite being part of the system they criticise.

The outspoken activist went further to describe the group as “retrogressive forces camouflaging as opposition,” insisting that their actions are driven more by personal ambition than genuine concern for the country.

“If they are messiahs or magicians, Nigeria wouldn’t have been like this,” he said, questioning what he sees as their sudden transformation into reform advocates.

Sani also alleged that many of the leaders involved were instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s current political challenges.

“They are the architects and structural engineers who built the faulty system in our country,” he added.

He expressed doubts about their democratic credentials, arguing that none of the key figures demonstrated strong commitment to democratic values during their time in office.

In a metaphorical swipe at the party’s internal issues, Sani likened the situation within the ADC to a faulty vehicle.

“The ADC leaders bought a used vehicle and are now battling with engine problems,” he said, suggesting that the group should have formed a new political party if they wanted a more stable platform.

His comments come amid growing political realignments and increased activity among opposition parties ahead of future elections, as attention continues to focus on shifting alliances across Nigeria’s politicallandscape.
