The Supreme Court has fixed April 22, 2026, for the hearing of an appeal filed by the factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.
The appeal, filed by Senator David Mark, is challenging the March 12 judgment of the Court of Appeal, which upheld an earlier decision of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The trial court had refused to grant certain injunctive orders sought in an ex-parte application filed by party chieftain Nafiu Bala Gombe.

At Tuesday’s proceedings, a five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Mohammed Garba granted an accelerated hearing in the case marked SC/CV/180/2026 and subsequently fixed the hearing date.
The court directed Mark’s counsel, Jibril Okutepa (SAN), to file and serve the appellant’s brief by Wednesday.
It also ordered all respondents to file and serve their respective briefs within three days of receiving the appellant’s processes.
In addition, the court held that the appellant may file a reply brief, where necessary, within one day of being served with the respondents’ responses.
The case is part of a broader legal battle over the control and leadership structure of the ADC, which has remained deeply divided over competing factions and court judgments.
