The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has approved full educational scholarships for the three children of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who died while in active service.

The state government said the initiative will cover the children’s education from their current levels up to university, ensuring uninterrupted academic progress.
According to the government, the beneficiaries include a university student, a secondary school student, and a junior secondary school pupil currently studying in Abuja.

Governor Okpebholo described the decision as a moral duty and a way of honouring the sacrifice made by the late officer, who was praised for his discipline, courage, and service to the nation.
He added that the scholarship aligns with the state’s broader education and human capital development agenda, which focuses on supporting families of fallen heroes and promoting inclusive governance.

The governor also called on other state governments and private sector actors to adopt similar support systems for families of security personnel who die in service, stressing the importance of sustained welfare for their dependents.
The late officer was laid to rest with full military honours following his death during security operations.
