TANKER WITH 2 MILLION BARRELS OF CRUDE CLEARS STRAIT OF HORMUZ ON WAY TO TAIWAN

A tanker carrying two million barrels of Saudi crude bound for Taiwan passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, as more than 20 vessels transited the strategic waterway before its renewed closure.

According to shipping tracker Kpler, more than 20 vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, the highest number since March 1, with five carrying Iranian cargo ranging from petroleum products to metals, per Reuters. Three of those vessels were liquefied petroleum gas carriers, including ships bound for China and India.

Reuters reported the Panama-flagged tanker Crave was carrying liquefied petroleum gas from the UAE to Indonesia. The tankers Akti A and Athina were transporting refined petroleum products from Bahrain to Mozambique and Thailand.

The Liberia-flagged tanker Navig8 Macallister was carrying about 500,000 barrels of UAE naphtha to Ulsan, South Korea. The Liberia-flagged very large crude carrier Fpmc C Lord was carrying about 2 million barrels of Saudi crude oil to Yunlin County’s Mailiao Port.

The India-flagged vessel Desh Garima was carrying about 780,000 barrels of crude from the UAE’s Das Island to Sri Lanka. The Ruby was carrying Qatari fertilizer to the UAE, while the bulk carrier Merry M was transporting Saudi petroleum coke to Ravenna, Italy.

The US and Iran on Sunday accused each other of breaching a weekend ceasefire agreement, leading to another closure of the Strait of Hormuz, CNA reported. The waterway handles about one-fifth of the world’s oil supply, and the conflict has already driven international oil prices higher
