IRAN HANGS MAN CONVICTED OF LINKS TO ISRAEL’S MOSSAD

Iran has executed a man accused of having ties to Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, in a case authorities say is linked to espionage activities during ongoing tensions with Israel and the United States.

The country’s judiciary confirmed on Wednesday that Mehdi Farid was put to death after being convicted of “extensive cooperation” with Mossad, according to its official Mizan Online platform.

Authorities said the court found him guilty of intelligence collaboration and spying for what Iran refers to as the “Zionist regime,” classifying the offence under the serious charge of “corruption on earth,” which carries the death penalty under Iranian law.

Details about when Farid was arrested or the exact timeline of his trial were not immediately disclosed, but officials stated that his conviction had been reviewed and the final ruling approved before the execution was carried out.

The execution comes amid a broader wave of capital punishment cases in Iran involving individuals allegedly linked to foreign intelligence services and domestic unrest.

In recent weeks, Iranian authorities have also carried out multiple executions connected to protests that erupted earlier in the year, which the government claims were influenced by external actors, including Israel and the United States, as well as banned opposition groups.

Iran has been in a period of heightened tension with both Israel and the United States, although reports indicate a ceasefire has been in place since early April following months of confrontation.
