FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MOVES AGAINST DEFAULTING DEVELOPERS: SEALS PARADISE ESTATE OVER HOUSING DELIVERY FAILURE

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed three properties belonging to Paradise Estate Limited in Abuja over allegations of failing to deliver houses that had already been fully paid for by customers.

The enforcement action, carried out on Thursday and led by Deputy Director of Surveillance and Investigation, Mavin Nadah, followed multiple consumer complaints against the real estate company.

According to the commission, affected buyers had paid for their homes for over three years without receiving delivery. FCCPC said it had previously issued a compliance notice directing the company to release the properties to the customers, but the directive was ignored.

The notice, served on February 24, 2026, gave the firm seven days to comply, but the company reportedly failed to act within the given timeframe, prompting the enforcement exercise.

Officials of the commission stated that the action was taken in line with provisions of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, which empowers it to intervene in cases of consumer rights violations.

The FCCPC reiterated its commitment to protecting consumers from unfair and deceptive business practices, particularly in the real estate sector.

However, a legal representative of Paradise Homes, Aloysius Ezenwa, argued that the transactions are covered under existing sale agreements and expressed disagreement with the sealing of the properties.
