Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu following his endorsement as the preferred successor for the 2027 governorship election.
In a post shared on his X handle on Monday, Hamzat described the governor’s support as a significant vote of confidence, noting that it means a great deal to him both personally and politically.
“Today, I am honoured by the endorsement of my Governor, my brother and my friend, HE Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. His trust means a great deal to me,” he wrote.
Reflecting on their working relationship, Hamzat highlighted their years of collaboration in managing the affairs of Lagos State, adding that he does not take the endorsement lightly.
“We’ve worked side by side in the service of Lagos State, and I don’t take this vote of confidence lightly,” he said.
The deputy governor also reaffirmed his commitment to continuity in governance, promising to build on existing progress if given the opportunity to lead the state.
“I remain committed to building on the progress we’ve made together, and look forward to serving Lagosians with integrity, focus and a clear sense of purpose,” he added.
Lagos remains a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress, with political activities already gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
