The Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the August 15 Osun governorship election, Oluwole Oke, has expressed confidence that Governor Ademola Adeleke will not be re-elected, insisting that the opposition party is well-positioned to take over the state.

Speaking at the inauguration of APC campaign committees in Osogbo on Wednesday, Oke predicted that the incumbent governor would be defeated before the end of election day.
He said the APC would take advantage of what he described as shortcomings in the current administration, especially in resource management and governance performance, to secure victory for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Ademola Adeleke, according to Oke, has failed to deliver effectively across key sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture. He alleged that public schools are in poor condition, hospitals are underperforming, and the state’s agricultural sector has weakened under the current administration.
He further argued that paying civil servants alone should not be considered a major achievement of governance, stressing that it is a basic responsibility of government.
Oke expressed strong confidence that the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would emerge victorious, adding that the party has extensive experience in unseating sitting governors and is fully prepared for the election.

Reacting to the comments, the Deputy Spokesperson to the Osun State Government dismissed Oke’s claims, describing them as misleading and politically motivated. He maintained that the Adeleke administration has made significant progress in education, healthcare, and other sectors, and insisted that the governor remains popular with the people.

He added that voters in Osun would re-elect Governor Adeleke by a wide margin, dismissing the APC’s predictions as unrealistic.

The election, scheduled for August 15, will see Governor Adeleke seeking re-election under the Accord Party, while Oyebamiji represents the APC. Another major contender in the race is former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, who is contesting under the African Democratic Congress.
