Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State have declared their support for Bashir Bolarinwa as their preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was made during a press briefing held on Sunday in Ilorin, where the elders stated that Bolarinwa stands out among other aspirants due to his experience, integrity, and leadership capacity.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Ladi Mustapha, a former APC legal adviser, said Bolarinwa possesses the intellectual strength and governance experience needed to tackle insecurity and promote socio-economic development in the state.
He described the aspirant as a disciplined and transparent leader with a long-standing record of public service, adding that his career spanning over two decades reflects consistency and commitment to governance.

Mustapha noted that Bolarinwa has served in various political positions, including councillor, local government chairman in Lagos State, member of the House of Representatives, and former Kwara APC chairman, which he said demonstrates his administrative competence.
He further described him as a unifying figure with strong relationships across ethnic, religious, and political lines in Kwara State, adding that his grassroots connection makes him well-suited for inclusive leadership.

According to Mustapha, Bolarinwa has also played significant roles in political mobilisation and is widely regarded for his organisational strength and understanding of the state’s political landscape.
He added that the aspirant is seen as a leader driven by service, justice, and compassion, with a focus on improving the lives of citizens.

A former Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Raphael Adetiba, also speaking at the event, stressed that the APC remains committed to internal democracy and unity, noting that competence should remain the key factor in selecting leaders.
He emphasised the need for continuity in development and urged stakeholders to support a candidate capable of sustaining progress and delivering good governance in the state.
