Gunmen have attacked Nding community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing six people, including a family of five, in another wave of violence that has heightened tension in the area.

The attack reportedly occurred around 9 p.m. on Tuesday when the assailants invaded the community and opened fire on residents.
A resident, Weng Christopher, said five members of the same family were killed during the attack, while another community member also lost his life. He expressed concern over the increasing frequency of violent incidents in the area, noting that many residents now live in fear.

The Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Moulders, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the killings and condemned the attack, calling on security agencies to take urgent steps to protect communities in Plateau State.

Tengwong also disclosed that gunmen attempted to launch another attack on Rim community in Riyom Local Government Area, but the effort was resisted by local vigilantes alongside personnel of Operation Rainbow, the state-owned security outfit.

He described the repeated attacks across parts of Plateau as disturbing and urged authorities to intensify security operations to prevent further loss of lives and property.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity and recurring attacks affecting several communities in Plateau State.
