The Federal Ministry of Works has announced a partial closure of sections of the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road beginning Monday as reconstruction work on the highway enters a critical phase.
The Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Mr. Olayiwola Komolafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday. He explained that the move followed a directive from the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, instructing contractors to return to key sections of the project to speed up completion.
According to Komolafe, the affected areas include the stretch from Ikorodu Roundabout to Sabo Junction in Lagos, as well as the Cement to Coca-Cola axis inward Sagamu.
He stated that motorists travelling from Ikorodu towards Sagamu would be redirected through the construction corridor under a counterflow traffic arrangement.

The reconstruction exercise is expected to last for three months to allow for construction work and proper curing of the rigid pavement.
Komolafe added that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic and reduce congestion along the affected routes during the construction period.
He appealed to motorists and commuters to cooperate with traffic officials and other law enforcement agencies throughout the duration of the project.
The ministry also expressed regret over the inconvenience the road work may cause road users, assuring the public that the reconstruction is aimed at improving the condition and safety of the highway.
