The Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi State has foiled an attempted kidnapping and armed robbery operation, arresting two suspects during a swift intelligence-led operation in Misau Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson Nafiu Habib confirmed in a statement on Friday that the operation was based on credible intelligence received on May 12, 2026, which prompted officers to act quickly and intercept the suspects before they could carry out the alleged crime.

According to the police, operatives tracked and arrested the suspects, identified as Kyellumi Umar and Muhammad Aliyu Gawo, preventing what could have been an attack on two local businessmen.
Investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly targeted two traders, identified as Alhaji Labdo and Alhaji Baba, whom they believed frequently carried large sums of cash during market visits.

During questioning, one of the suspects reportedly admitted that the plan involved robbing the victims, who were said to avoid banking their money.
The police added that the intended victims have since been contacted and advised on personal security precautions.

The suspects are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department and are expected to be charged to court after investigations are completed.
Authorities also urged residents to remain alert and continue supporting security agencies with useful information, stressing that community cooperation remains essential in preventing crime.
Security operations in Bauchi State have recently been intensified as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks and improve public safety across communities.
