Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has strengthened its international profile with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, one of Europe’s leading business universities.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the university’s communication unit, the agreement was signed at the SGH campus in Warsaw, Poland, and is expected to open new academic and professional opportunities for students and staff.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya, who signed on behalf of LASUSTECH, described the partnership as a significant milestone in the institution’s drive toward global engagement.
“This partnership positions LASUSTECH within an elite global academic network and creates pathways for our students and faculty to benefit from international exposure and collaboration,” he said.

The SGH Warsaw School of Economics was represented by its Rector, Professor Piotr Wachowiak, who also signed the agreement.
The LASUSTECH delegation included the Dean of the College of Applied Social Sciences, Professor Olumuyiwa Olamade, and Mr Ayo Eso, who were involved in developing the implementation framework during the visit.
Under the agreement, LASUSTECH will gain access to SGH’s globally recognised academic standards and networks. The partnership will also facilitate student exchange programmes with credit transfer opportunities, faculty exchange initiatives, and joint research projects.
The university noted that areas of collaboration would include financial inclusion, the digital economy, and other development-focused research fields. It will also provide access to academic resources and engagement with innovation platforms such as the CIC Innovation Hub in Poland.
According to Odusanya, the partnership aligns with LASUSTECH’s IMPACT model as well as the Lagos State Government’s broader development agenda.
He added that the collaboration would strengthen curriculum development, enhance staff capacity, and expand student mobility, while also creating access to European research funding opportunities, including Horizon Europe programmes.
The university described the agreement as a key step in its long-term goal of becoming a globally relevant institution with strong local impact, noting that it marks another important milestone in its internationalisation journey.
