NPA ANNOUNCES ARRIVAL OF 43 CARGO SHIPS IN LAGOS PORTS

NPA Expects 43 Vessels Carrying Fuel, Food Supplies, Others To Lagos Ports

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced that at least 43 vessels loaded with petroleum products, food items and other cargoes are expected to arrive at Apapa Port, Lekki Deep Sea Port and Tin Can Island Port in Lagos.

According to the NPA’s Daily Shipping Position released on Tuesday, the vessels are scheduled to berth at the ports between May 26 and June 6.

The authority stated that eight of the incoming vessels are container ships carrying different categories of goods, while the remaining 35 vessels are transporting cargoes such as petrol, diesel, aviation fuel, fresh fish, bulk wheat, gasoline and general cargo.

The NPA also disclosed that 11 vessels and tankers have already arrived at the ports and are currently awaiting berthing approval. The ships are carrying containers, crude oil, condensate, petrol, diesel, bulk fertiliser, gasoline and bulk salt.

In addition, the authority revealed that 21 vessels are presently discharging various consignments at the ports. The cargoes being offloaded include bulk urea, wheat, trucks, bulk sugar, millet, gypsum, petrol and containerised goods.

The development comes as activities continue to increase at major ports across Lagos amid growing importation of fuel products, food supplies and industrial materials into the country.
