Mrs. Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin children have been rescued after being abducted earlier this week in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims were freed during a security operation conducted on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Reports indicate that security personnel successfully located and rescued them alive following a coordinated operation based on intelligence gathering and surveillance of the kidnappers’ movements.
During the operation, two suspected kidnappers were reportedly killed in an exchange of gunfire with security operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the suspects.

Authorities are said to be continuing efforts to track down other members of the kidnapping gang who escaped the scene. Some of the fleeing suspects are believed to have sustained gunshot injuries during the confrontation.
Mrs. John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons were abducted on June 3, 2026, at the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area while she was taking the children to school.

Eyewitnesses described the incident as a well-coordinated attack carried out by armed men who intercepted the victims before taking them away. The kidnapping sparked concern among residents, with footage from the scene showing an abandoned vehicle left behind after the attack.
Following the incident, the family confirmed the abduction and disclosed that security agencies had immediately launched efforts to secure the release of the victims and apprehend those responsible.

The successful rescue has been welcomed by family members and residents, while security agencies continue investigations aimed at dismantling the kidnapping network behind the crime.
Mrs. John-Paul previously worked in the banking sector before retiring and relocating to Ibadan with her children. She had reportedly been making preparations to reunite with her husband, who resides in the United States.
