The Lagos State Police Command has urged residents and business operators in Mushin to remain calm following an explosion linked to a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the Shoe Materials Market.
Security officials said they quickly responded after receiving reports of the incident, deploying specialists to secure the area and carry out a detailed investigation.
Preliminary findings indicated that the explosive device had been hidden beneath a vehicle parked within the market. Authorities said the device detonated shortly after the vehicle was started, triggering the explosion.
One person sustained injuries during the incident and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment. The victim is currently reported to be in stable condition.
Following the blast, bomb disposal experts conducted an extensive search of the market and nearby locations to ensure there were no additional threats. Officials later confirmed that no other explosive devices were found.
Investigators have recovered fragments of the suspected IED, which have been sent for forensic examination as efforts continue to determine how the device was planted and identify those responsible.
