At least two people have been killed and five others abducted following a fresh terrorist attack in Kogi State, adding to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the North-Central region.
The attack reportedly occurred in a community within Kogi State, where armed assailants invaded the area, opened fire on residents, and abducted several victims before fleeing into nearby forests.

Local sources said the gunmen struck in the early hours, causing panic among residents as many fled for safety. Security operatives were subsequently deployed to the area to restore calm and begin search-and-rescue operations.
The latest incident comes amid ongoing military offensives against criminal groups operating in parts of Kogi State. In recent weeks, troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified operations across several forested areas, leading to the rescue of kidnapped victims and the disruption of terrorist camps.

Security authorities are said to be working closely with local communities to track down the attackers and secure the release of those still in captivity.
The attack has once again highlighted the persistent security challenges facing several communities in Kogi State despite sustained efforts by security agencies to curb kidnapping, banditry, and terrorist activities.
Residents have called for increased security presence and more proactive measures to protect lives and property, while authorities continue investigations into the incident and efforts to apprehend those responsible.
