OYO ABDUCTION: WE’RE DEPLOYING FOREIGN COLLABORATIONS FOR SAFE RESCUE — TINUBU

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that every necessary step is being taken to secure the release of the 47 teachers and students abducted from public and private schools in the Yawota and Ahoro Esienle communities of Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, gave the assurance on Thursday while commissioning the newly remodelled 154-bed Premier Hotel in Ibadan.

He said the Federal Government remains committed to tackling insecurity across Oyo State, the South-West region, and other parts of the country, particularly the growing cases of kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities.

According to him, all practical measures, including collaboration with international partners, are being explored to ensure the kidnapped victims are rescued safely without unnecessary loss of life.

The government also appealed to Nigerians to stay alert and support security agencies by providing useful information that could aid security operations. He emphasized that traditional rulers and religious leaders have an important role to play in strengthening community security through established government channels.

He noted that lasting economic growth depends on a peaceful and secure environment, adding that the Tinubu administration has continued to invest heavily in improving Nigeria’s security system.

The government, he said, has over the past three years strengthened cooperation among security agencies, improved intelligence gathering, expanded the use of surveillance technology, promoted community-based security initiatives, and increased support for the armed forces and other security agencies.

Akume further disclosed that legislative efforts are underway at the National Assembly to improve policing across all levels, with plans to implement the reforms in the near future.

He expressed confidence that the administration’s security initiatives are already producing positive results in several parts of the country and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that Nigerians, investors, and visitors can live, work, travel, and conduct business in a safe environment.

He added that the improving security situation would continue to boost Nigeria’s attractiveness as a destination for both local and foreign investment.
