The United States has said it will closely observe Nigeria’s 2027 general election, reaffirming its interest in ensuring that the electoral process is credible, transparent, and democratic.

Speaking during an interview on Saturday, U.S. Congressman Riley Moore stated that Washington is already monitoring preparations for Nigeria’s next general election and will pay close attention to how the polls are conducted and their eventual outcome.
According to Moore, the United States is interested not only in the election results but also in the overall integrity of the electoral process, including how the elections are organised and executed.

He noted that U.S. officials would continue to monitor developments before, during, and after the polls, underscoring America’s commitment to supporting democratic principles around the world.
Although he did not provide details on the nature of the monitoring, his remarks reflect the international community’s continued interest in Nigeria’s democratic progress as the country prepares for the 2027 elections.

The United States has consistently advocated for peaceful, free, and fair elections in Nigeria, urging political leaders, electoral authorities, and other stakeholders to uphold the rule of law and respect the will of voters.
With preparations expected to gather momentum in the coming months, Nigeria’s 2027 general election is likely to remain under close local and international scrutiny.
