Police officers have arrested the father of Adeyemi Adeniyi, the embattled individual who claims to be the Director-General of the purported Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), along with a family friend in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The arrests reportedly took place on Monday morning at the family’s residence. The family friend was said to have been visiting the home when security operatives arrived, while Adeyemi’s elderly mother was left visibly distressed following the incident.
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) condemned the arrests, arguing that there is no legal justification for detaining a suspect’s relative in place of the suspect. He maintained that Adeyemi had already indicated his willingness to appear before the court, making the arrest of his father unnecessary.

Residents in the area also confirmed the operation, with one eyewitness claiming that police officers arrived in four vehicles and prevented neighbours from interfering before taking the elderly man away.
Another resident said Adeyemi’s mother was left traumatised by the incident.

The arrests come amid ongoing investigations into the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), which the Presidency has declared to be a non-existent government agency.
Adeyemi is currently facing charges related to alleged forgery, impersonation and other offences connected to his claimed appointment as the council’s director-general.
The matter is presently being heard before a Federal High Court in Abuja.
