Notorious bandit leader Kachalla Sani Yellow has been killed in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, although conflicting reports have emerged over how he died.

Local sources claimed the notorious bandit commander was killed on Friday, July 10, at Dan Jibga Market by armed men believed to be loyal to rival bandit leader Dogo Gide. The attackers reportedly ambushed him in broad daylight while he was at the market.

Residents familiar with the activities of armed groups in the area said the incident reflects the ongoing power struggle among rival bandit factions competing for control and influence across parts of Zamfara State.

However, another account from security sources suggested that Yellow was killed during a coordinated security operation in Anka Local Government Area.
According to the sources, the operation involved security personnel working alongside members of the Maiduguri Special Vigilantes recently deployed to strengthen counter-banditry operations in the state. The offensive was said to be part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts and eliminate notorious bandit leaders.

As of the time of this report, security authorities had not officially confirmed which account accurately explains the circumstances surrounding Yellow’s death.
Kachalla Sani Yellow was considered one of
the most feared bandit commanders operating across the forest areas of Anka, Bukkuyum, Maru and surrounding local government areas. He was linked to several attacks on rural communities, kidnappings for ransom, cattle rustling and other violent crimes that forced many residents to flee their homes.
