TINUBU THROWS OPEN FCT’S TUNGAN MADAKI–ZUBA GROWTH CORRIDOR TO PRIVATE INVESTORS

President Bola Tinubu has said the construction of the 7-kilometre Tungan Madaki–Zuba road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will boost investment in housing, education, healthcare, and industrial development.

The President, represented by Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, made the statement on Monday during the official inauguration of the road project in Abuja.

According to Tinubu, the FCT was established to serve the entire country, stressing that the vision can only be fully achieved by improving connectivity between satellite towns, gateway communities, and the city centre.

He described the road as a strategic infrastructure project that will reduce congestion in central Abuja, provide alternative routes for commuters, and strengthen the economic corridor linking Abuja with Kaduna and the North-West region.

The President added that the project would encourage investors to establish housing estates, schools, healthcare facilities, and industries along the corridor.

Tinubu noted that communities such as Tungan Madaki and Zuba are home to hardworking farmers, traders, students, and families who have long struggled with poor road access.

He explained that residents have endured years of transportation challenges, especially during the rainy season when movement becomes difficult and farm produce often fails to reach markets on time.

According to him, the new road will provide a direct connection between Tungan Madaki and the Abuja-Kaduna Highway, reducing travel time, lowering vehicle operating costs, and improving the movement of people and goods.

The President also praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his team for the pace and commitment shown in delivering infrastructure projects across the territory.

Speaking at the event, Wike said the road project aligns with the President’s directive to improve road connectivity between satellite towns, area councils, and Abuja’s city centre.

He disclosed that the project was initiated after the Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council requested a direct road linking Zuba to Abuja to ease transportation difficulties faced by residents.

Wike expressed confidence that the contractor would complete the project by December, allowing it to be inaugurated as a Christmas gift to the people of Tungan Madaki and Zuba.

Also speaking, the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, said the road would expand infrastructure, improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities, attract investment, and enhance the standard of living in the benefiting communities.

Earlier, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda, explained that the 7-kilometre road would connect Bill Clinton Drive to the Abuja-Kaduna-Lokoja Highway at Zuba while linking several communities along the route.

He added that the project would serve as an alternative route for travellers heading to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport from Zuba, Kaduna, and Kogi, while also improving security, supporting agriculture, and driving economic development across the area.
